Sustainability

Sustainability today is crucial for the future of tomorrow. It protects resources, combats climate change and promotes social justice. For Grand Resort Bad Ragaz AG, sustainability is also a key value.

Since the Grand Hotel Quellenhof was built in 1868, the thermal water from the Tamina Spring has been an integral part of our company. Originally known for its healing properties, today the water offers far more than just health benefits. For our guests, the thermal water is a source of relaxation and recreation, for our employees it forms the basis of their work and for the region, the water contributes significantly to its attractiveness.

The last few years in particular have shown us how much we, too, depend on an intact environment. Unsafe slopes, storms and ever more frequent and earlier in the year, we are forced to take measures to use our water even more sparingly.

Developing ourselves sustainably is therefore of great importance to us - because our actions today determine whether we will still be around tomorrow. If at some point the spring runs dry, we will lose the heart of our company. That is why we are committed to ensuring a future worth living for, using resources sparingly, treating each other with respect and fairness and continuing to develop in an economically sound manner.

To emphasise our actions, we have integrated sustainability into our vision. This vision states that we combine lifestyle, enjoyment, health and sustainability at the highest level. This makes us the leading destination in the heart of Europe.

In order to fulfil these expectations, we have developed a sustainability strategy with an holistic approach. After all, especially in the tourism industry, which is characterised by staff turnover, we must not limit ourselves to the ecological dimension of sustainability. Social aspects, such as fair and respectful treatment of employees, partners and the region, are central to an economically secure future.

By conducting an ESG audit and a carbon footprint, we were able to evaluate our fields of action with the greatest impact in three dimensions - E (Environment), S (Social) and G (Governance) - and use these as a guide to derive our core topics. As a result, we have defined the following main areas on which we base our actions:

  • Mobility management
  • Waste management
  • Employee turnover
  • Employee health
  • Risk management
  • Sustainability report
